Lawrence Announces Significant State Funding for Southern Chester County Infrastructure

WEST GROVE – Rep. John Lawrence announced several grant awards for southern Chester County earlier today, lauding a collaboration with Senators Carolyn Comitta and John Kane to deliver important funding to the community.

Union Fire Company in Oxford will receive $795,000 towards the purchase of a new fire engine to replace a rescue pumper more than 20 years old. The new unit meets current safety standards and projected future needs for fire service in the community.

“This substantial state funding comes at an important time for Union Fire Company and helps ensure our firefighters have the equipment they need to serve our community,” said Lawrence. “Working together with Senator Comitta, we were able to deliver these important grant dollars to support critical services in Oxford. This builds on the commitment to bring state resources to southern Chester County to support critical projects and infrastructure.”

“Strong emergency response and public safety services are integral to a strong quality of life in our communities,” said Comitta. “These investments will help ensure that residents and families across Chester County know that help is just a phone call away should an emergency arise. I want to thank all the fire, police, ambulance, and emergency response professionals and volunteers who work tirelessly to keep us safe, secure, and healthy.”

London Grove Township will receive $600,000 to construct a new supply line and pump station connecting the township’s water system to Chester Water Authority’s supply line. The project will significantly improve reliability, water quality, and water flow to residents, businesses, and schools throughout London Grove.

“Improving local municipal water infrastructure in southern Chester County is critical to everyone in the community,” said Lawrence. “I am especially pleased to support this partnership between London Grove Township and Chester Water Authority to strengthen regional reliability – especially given that hundreds of schoolchildren will directly benefit from these improvements every day. Working together with Senator Kane, we were able to deliver significant state grant funding to ensure this project moves forward.”

“Strategic investments like this project in London Grove Township create jobs during construction, attract additional investments, strengthen our institutions, and improve the services available to families across our communities,” Kane said.

Funding for both grants comes from the Pennsylvania Local Share Account program.
